ABOUT BABBA PALLY

The Babbapally of Elamthottam has a vital importance in the history of Indian Christians. This is the only Church in India in the name of St. Antony the Abbot. The main feast of this parish is that of St. Antony the Abbot, which is solemnly celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of November. The Sunday after the festival is celebrated as ‘Puthary Perunnal’. Another major feast of the parish is that of Infant Jesus. For this, the flag is hoisted on December 25th and annual retreats conducted as preparation for these major festivals. Every year, on the 3rd Sunday of January, the festivity of St. George and St. Jude (preceded by a novena) are solemnly celebrated at Allapara chapel.

In the month of May we celebrate "May Masa Vanakam" in honour of Mother Mary. On July 3 we celebrate the feast day of St. Thomas. In connection with this, there is the distribution of" Pachore'. It has been decided to celebrate the Parish day on every " Panthakusta" (Pentecost)

Sunday School

Sunday school plays a major role in the faith formation of every Christian child in this Parish. At present there are around 200 students and 14 teachers in the Sunday school.

Religious Organizations

There are different religious organizations for various age groups such as: Vincent De Paul Society, Mathrujyothi, K.C.Y.M, C.M.L, Marian Sodality, etc. All these organizations are functioning quite well.

Daughters of ST Thomas Convent (D.S.T)

D.S.T sisters play a major role in the day-to-day functioning of the parish. Their services to the society are remarkable. Since this is a Formation House, the aspirants actively participate in all the church activities. The sisters and the aspirants work enthusiastically under the guidance of Fr. Vicar, for the well-being of this Parish community.
